Dermot Morgan of course
plays Father Ted, but before that was on screens playing a stand up
comedy character "Father Trendy" (which is nothing to do
with the show) and his own radio show "Scrap Saturday" which
aired on Irish Radio's RTE. He also managed to annoy a lot of people
who thought his political humour on Scrap Sunday was too edgy, and
also people to thought his Father Trendy character was offensive too
as it was poking a bit of fun at the Catholic religion. But after
starring in one of the finest shows ever, who had the last laugh eh?
Well this
is the guy responsible for playing Dougal. Before acting, he had oddly
diverse jobs such as airport worker, hotel porter, and pigfarmer.
he also studied communications at Dublin University.
Jack
is played by the less-scraggy-looking-in-real-life Frank Kelly. His
biography mainly lists films with only a touch of TV. He even had
an uncredited part as a prisioner in the 1969 film "The Italian
Job". A film that caused a surge in sales for the mighty Mini
car.
Underneath
that false mole is Pauline McLynn. Out of all the people here, she
has the longest acting biography, again mainly films with only a
hint of the good old TV. She's also not as old as she looks as the
Doyle either, there's a tad of make-up in action.
